Helping Bootstrap Caribbean BYU Pathway Students to a Brighter Future
ABOUT US
OUR PURPOSE
Project Bootstrap is founded on Christian values centered on Jesus Christ’s teaching of “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Matthew 19:19. In this increasingly complex world, education is one of the most important steps to changing people’s lives. BYU-Pathway Worldwide is allowing people across the globe to “Bootstrap” themselves into a new life. Essential to being able to successfully complete this education opportunity is the ability to use a computer to complete homework and participate in the virtual classroom. Project Bootstrap is awarding laptops to BYU Pathway students in order to promote the human potential in areas of the world where there has been no opportunity to get an education.
Although we are not affiliated with BYU-Pathway Worldwide we value its low-cost flexible, online approach to higher education in over 150 countries. In 2020, BYU–PW reached a new milestone by serving 51,583 students (33,238 in Pathway Connect and 23,172 in BYU–Idaho online degree programs).
Income inequality prevents many Caribbean BYU-Pathway students from owing a laptop, which is necessary to complete university courses and attend virtual classes. Project Bootstrap is addressing this problem by awarding laptops to exceptional BYU-Pathway students thorough a online application process.
This is our humble attempt to follow our Lord’s teaching by helping the poor and needy gain an education so they can “Bootstrap” themselves into a better tomorrow. Please add greater meaning to your life today and join us in creating a bright future for some of our Lord’s children.
backroads foundation
We specialize in delivering supplies and resources to communities that are typically inaccessible due to conflict and other factors. We liaison between governments and NGOs to provide smooth transfer of resources in an effective manner. We are able to accomplish their unique mission by developing and fostering strong relationships with other non-profit organizations, local civic/military organizations, and local community leaders.
We are different. Our policy is that there are NO middleman. We maintain in person relationships with our contacts, ensure team members uphold great integrity, and hand deliver supplies to those in need. We are all volunteers. 100% of donations go toward supplies and resources for communities in need.

CHANGING STUDENTS FUTURES
Project Bootstrap welcomes donated laptops in good working condition. In order to meet the student requirements, we prefer laptops with Core i5 microprocessors, 16 gb RAM, 500 gb internal storage. Our partner (an authorized Microsoft refurbishing company) will securely erase all data and upgrade the laptop to established standards and install new operating systems, programs and internet connections as needed.
If you or your company are interested in giving, please contact us and we will make specific pick-up or shipping arrangements with you.
